THE WEEK AHEAD: NTL CROSS-COUNTRY DUAL MEETS START THIS WEEK (August 31, 2025)

Northern Tier Sports Report
Labor Day makes this a shorter week but with cross-country dual meets starting up things will stay busy.

FOOTBALL
Friday, September 5

Canton (1-1) at Athens (2-0), 7 p.m.: The Wildcats are riding high after two big wins to start the year while Canton is coming off a loss to South Williamsport. Athens beat the Mounties in Week-1.

Towanda (0-2) at NP-Mansfield (2-0), 7 p.m.: The Knights head west again as they look to get healthy and continue to improve. The Panthers are coming off a big win over Sayre.

Troy (1-1) at South Williamsport (1-1), 7 p.m.: Troy will look to bounce back after their tough loss at Waverly as they head south. The Mounties bounced back from a Week-1 loss to Athens by beating Canton last week.

Saturday, September 6
Wellsboro (0-2) at Wyalusing (1-1), 7 p.m.: The Rams have split in their early season games against Tioga County, and now the rubber match. Wyalusing rallied to beat CV last week, while Wellsboro fell at Muncy.

CROSS-COUNTRY
Tuesday, September 2

Canton, NP-Mansfield at Wyalusing, 4:30 p.m.: The Rams open the season at home as the Warriors and Tigers come to town.

NEB, Sullivan County at Athens, 4:30 p.m.: The Panthers start their league title defenses at Round Top with the Griffins and Wildcats.

Sayre, Troy at Wellsboro, 4:30 p.m.: The Trojans head west and face Wellsboro as the boys’ kick-off their title defense.

Towanda at CV, 4:30 p.m.:
The Knights head west as the girls start their title defense.

BOYS’ SOCCER
Tuesday, September 2

Towanda (0-2) at Troy (0-4), 4 p.m.: It was a tough for these two teams last week as they look to break into the win column. The Knights are coming off a pair of close losses, while Troy had a close battle with NP-Liberty.

Williamson (4-0) at NEB (2-1), 4 p.m.: A big match-up for the Panthers as they welcome red hot Williamson. The Warriors have out scored teams 16-2 so far this season.

Thursday, September 4
Troy (0-4) at NEB (2-1), 4 p.m.: The Panthers are coming off a big win over Montgomery from last Saturday while Troy will play their sixth game in less than two weeks.

Towanda (0-2) at Galeton (1-1), 5:30 p.m.: A long road trip for the Knights as they face off with a Tiger team that has losses to NPL and Wellsboro.

Saturday, September 6
Sullivan County (1-2) at NEB (2-1), 11 a.m.: The Griffins boast a win over Towanda this year but are coming off a 5-0 loss to Loyalsock.

Towanda (0-2) at Southern Columbia (2-0), 11 a.m.:
The Tigers have wins over Shenandoah Valley and Shamokin so far this season.

GIRLS’ SOCCER
Wednesday, September 3

NP-Mansfield (0-2) at NEB (0-2), 4 p.m.: Both of the teams come in looking for a win as the Panthers hope some home cooking will jump start their season.

Troy (3-0) at Wellsboro (3-0), 5:30 p.m.: A big early season match-up as the Hornets boast a win over Athens, while Troy just defeated Montoursville.

Wyalusing (5-0) at Towanda (0-2), 6 p.m.: A rivalry match as the Knights have had a tough early season schedule with losses to Troy and Athens, while the Rams have outscored opponents 26-3 so far this year.

Friday, September 5
Mountain View at NEB (0-2), 4:15 p.m.: The Panthers slide in a non-league game as they play three matches in four days.

Saturday, September 6
NEB (0-2) at Towanda (0-2), 10 a.m.: An early morning game for both teams as they look to end the week strong.

Wyalusing (5-0) at Troy (3-0), 1 p.m.: Potentially the game of the week as these two teams enter the week undefeated. 

VOLLEYBALL
Tuesday, September 2

Towanda (1-1) at Selinsgrove (0-3), 7 p.m.: The Knights hit the road for this non-league contest. The Seals have losses to Sugar Valley, Holy Redeemer, and Schuylkill Valley.

Thursday, September 4
Towanda (1-1) at Troy (2-0), 7 p.m.: A big divisional match as the Knights get their shot at the defending champions. Troy is coming off a big win over Athens while the Knights suffered a tough loss to Williamson.

Wellsboro (2-0) at Wyalusing (2-1), 7 p.m.: The Rams get the defending District IV, Class AA champions as they look to bounce back from a loss to NPL.  Wellsboro sports wins over Canton and Sayre.

NEB (0-2) at Sayre (0-2), 7 p.m.: The Panthers will look to right after a tough couple of matches to start the season. Sayre’s also had a tough schedule with losses to NPL and Wellsboro.

Canton (1-1) at CV (1-2), 7 p.m.: A key Small School match-up with Canton coming off a win over NEB and CV beating Northern Potter.

Saturday, September 6
NEB, Canton, Troy at Williamson Tournament: Area teams descend on Tioga Junction for the annual tournament, with Troy coming in as the defending champions.

Elk Lake at Wyalusing (2-1), 10 a.m.: The Rams end the week with a non-league contest as they face the District II Warriors.

Susquehanna at Towanda (1-1), 11 a.m.:
A busy week for the Knights as they play their third match in five days. 

GOLF
Wednesday, September 3

Towanda at Sayre, 4:30 p.m.: The Knights come in undefeated so far this season as they look to keep rolling at Shepard Hills.

Canton, Wyalusing at CV, 4:30 p.m.: Both Canton and the Rams hit the road to Indian River.
