NTL BOYS' SOCCER: TOWANDA USES EARLY SECOND HALF SCORING TO BEAT TROY (September 2, 2025)
Northern Tier Sports ReportEAST TROY — Towanda used a pair of early second half goals to top Troy, 4-2, during NTL boys’ soccer action Tuesday.
“There was a team effort at the end there for the second half,” said Towanda coach Tom Lambert. “They wanted to win. They just wanted to win, they dug deep down to get that one.”
The Knights led 2-0 just before half but a pair Troy goals in the final nine minute tied things up at the break.
“I told them we can’t let up,” Lambert said at the half. “We have to force the ball, and just keep going on our offense.”
Towanda got their final two goals in the first 10 minutes of the second half.
Four different players scored for the Knights with Dalton Johnson finding the back of the net with 11:55 left in the opening half. Just 56 seconds later Josh Maye scored for the 2-0 lead.
With 8:43 on the clock Landon Jenkins got the Trojans on the board, then Landon Lee hit the equalizer with 33 seconds left in the half.
Ben Shrawder gave Towanda the lead with 34:18 left in the game, then just over three minutes later Brayden Spencer scored for the 2-goal lead.
Blayke Spencer had two assists for Towanda as Shrawder had one. In goal Blaiz Nichols made three saves.
“(He was) phenomenal,” said Lambert. “He’s been my goalie since freshman year, so he’s awesome.”
Timmy Hornung had 18 saves for the Trojans.
Towanda will travel to Galeton on Thursday as Troy takes a trip to NEB.
