NTL WRESTLING: GARRETT WESNESKI EXCITED TO BE BACK AT CANTON (2025-11-18)

Northern Tier Sports Report
CANTON — It’s a homecoming for Canton’s Garrett Wesneski as the 2-time state medalist has taken over the helm for Warrior wrestling this year after coaching Troy last season.

“It feels great,” he said. “It was tough to leave but it was one of those things that made sense. I went to school here, wrestled here, got a teaching job here, bought a house in March over here.”

It means a lot to him to be back in the mat room that he practiced in.

“Coach Marnotti’s shoes hang up in here and he was a father figure to me in high school,” explained Wesneski. “I had a really hard time, when I was in college, if it was the right move to transfer closer to home and get a fresh start, and he was the one that really got me to do it. It’s just cool knowing that I wrestled for him in these rooms, and I’m back helping kids that I’ve known since they’re little kids, just helping them to become good people, and be the best person of themselves, and getting better at wrestling.”
