It was all orange and black in NTl girls’ cross-country this season as Towanda rolled to a league title, and nearly made states as a team.
Leading the Black Knights was freshman Maris Cobb, who not only qualified for states but also brought home a state medal, earning her the Bradford County Female Cross-country Runner of the Year honors.
Since a runner can only get one major award, Cobb’s teammate Lila Larson is the Newcomer of the Year as the next best freshman in the county. She stepped into the fifth runner role for the Knights, and was a key cog as they repeated as league champs.
Leading all of this was Towanda’s Mike Maurer, as he and his staff are the Coaching Staff of the Year.
The first team consists of Cobb, along with her teammates Izzy Larson, Mary-Kate Eberlin, and Kenzie Brown. Also on first team are Athens’ Alissa Vough and NEB’s Sophie Bennett.
The second team consists of NEB’s Ruth Laudermilch, Towanda’s Lila Larson and Leila Cobb, Wyalusing’s Megan King and Camryn Gesford, and Athens’ Ava Hughes.
On the third team are Towanda’s Angie Tavani, Athens’ Marlene Roelle and Karolin Roelle, Wyalusing’s Riley Porter, and Troy’s Alyssa Rinebold.
