It was another exciting season on the trails in NTL boys’ cross-country, with Canton’s Lawrence Halbfoerster leading the way.
The Warrior senior went undefeated in NTL dual meets, was a district runner-up, and finished in the top 10 at states, which was more than enough to make him the Bradford County Male Cross-country Runner of the Year.
Towanda freshman Emmett Klees came into the season with high expectations and surpassed those. He was the Black Knights’ number two runner on the season as they claimed the NTL title, then qualified for states at the District IV Championships, earning him the Newcomer of the Year honors.
NEB coach Dillon Lockwood took a team of five freshmen and was able to repeat as the District IV, Class A Boys’ Champions this year, with the Panthers claiming their fourth straight title. They also finished 12th in the state despite sporting just one senior, making him and his staff the Coaching Staff of the Year.
The first team consists of Halbfoerster, Towanda’s Klees and Boom Thompson, NEB’s Jackson Martin, Athens’ Jacob Shores, and Wyalusing’s Aidan Neiley.
On the second team are Troy’s Frank Harper and RJ Bellinger, Towanda’s Hagan Jones and Phillip Spinney, Athens’ Matthew Rossetti, and Canton’s Landon Lake.
The third team consists of NEB’s Russell Martin and Levi Dewing, Canton’s Manuel Halbfoerster, Troy’s Owen Campbell, and Towanda’s Jackson Frederick.
