It was an exciting season of girls’ soccer, especially for the Troy Trojans, who won a league title, and made the state tournament for the first time program history. Leading the way for them was their dynamic duo of Alexis McRoberts and Saydi Renzo.
The two seniors led Troy to an undefeated NTL season, and their first district title game. McRoberts finished with over 30 goals on the season as she reached her 50th career goal early this year.
Renzo did a good job controlling the middle and feeding McRoberts, and earned her 50th career assist after scoring her 50th career goal last year.
The two are the Bradford County Girls’ Soccer All-stars Co-Players of the Year.
Fellow Trojan Giana Renzi had over 20 goals on the season, plus another 16 assists, earning her the Offensive Player of the Year honors.
Athens’ Brinley Nichols helped hold down a Wildcat backline that allowed just two goals a game despite one of the tougher schedules on the season, earning her the Defensive Player of the Year honors.
Holding down the fort was also what NEB’s Leah Beebe did for her young Panthers, finishing with over 200 saves on the year to earn the Goalkeeper of the Year honors.
Troy freshman Izzy Renzi didn’t always have much to do, but when she did she showed up. The young keeper finished with 57 saves on the year and nine shutouts to earn the Newcomer of the Year honors.
Wyalusing’s Addisyn Bly was a versatile player for the Rams, thanks to to her accurate long range shot. She finished with over 15 goals on the season, earning her the Utility Player of the Year honors.
Troy continued to roll through the NTL, claiming their sixth straight title, and reached new heights by getting to the district finals and state tournament. That makes Wayne Pratt and his staff the Coaching Staff of the Year honors.
The first team consists of McRoberts, Giana Renzi, Renzo, and fellow Trojan Jaylee Ward, while with Wyalusing’s Bly, Vayda Rought, and Treanna Nickeson.
Athens has Nichols, McKenna Jarvis, and Delanie Patton, NEB has Beebe and Jocelyn Brown, with Towanda’s Kennedy Heyer rounding out the selections.
On the second team are Troy’s Izzy Renzi, Kylee Roy, Kyah Renzo, and Mallory Chamberlain, along with Athens’ Abby Burgess, Elizabeth Denlinger, and Olivia Thompson.
Wyalusing’s Ellie Adams, Alysha Botts, and Lia Fischer are also on the team, along with Towanda’s Kiera Robinson, and Marin Maynard. NEB’s Katrina Russell rounds out the second team.
