NTL BOYS' BASKETBALL: TOWANDA USES BIG THIRD QUARTER TO DOWN NP-LIBERTY (2025-12-18)

Northern Tier Sports Report
TOWANDA — Towanda used a 25 point third quarter to pull away from NP-Liberty, 61-37, as they stayed undefeated on the season in NTL boys’ hoops Thursday.

“A good team win tonight,” said Towanda coach Landon Henry. “I thought we did a nice job defensively trying to take their strengths away. By no means was it perfect, but I felt that we played with an edge, and a desire to win possessions one at a time.”

Darrius Farrell led Towanda with 16 points, including three 3-balls, as Lucas Vincent added 10.

Markell Garner netted nine, Keagan Stroud scored eight, with Graham Welles chipping in with seven.

Boom Thompson finished with five, as Josh Maye, and Hudson Stevens had two points apiece.

Conner Lewis led NPL with nine points.

“Offensively, we had multiple contributors and it seems to be a common theme early in this season for us,” said Henry. “The balance has helped us and I give our boys a lot of credit as they share the ball, and enjoy playing together. I think it shows. With that being said, we have a good challenge ahead this coming week down at the Hughesville Christmas Tournament, and we will focus on preparation.”

It was tight early with Towanda taking a 12-9 lead at the first horn behind four points from Stroud.

Farrell went off in the second quarter, netting nine of his team’s 13 points, while they held the Mounties to just six, to take a 25-15 lead into the locker rooms.

The Knights went off in the third, hitting 12 field goals as seven different players scored.

Farrell had five, with Thompson, Vincent, Welles, and Garner all netting four during the frame.

The tightened the screws in the fourth, holding NPL to just seven points, as they secured the win.

Towanda (6-0) will face Mount Carmel in the opening round of the Hughesville Tournament on Monday.
