Northern Tier Sports ReportTROY — NEB won seven of 13 weights as they defeated Troy, 39-21, during NTL wrestling action Monday.
The Panthers got falls from Ben Ellis (215), Hunter Comstock (127), and Alex Gomez (145) while Russell Martin (172), Asher Kolesar (189), and Mason Alexander (114) earned forfeits.
Kale Howland (160) scored a 12-5 decision over Hunter Watson for their other win.
For Troy they got a fall from Marcus Frisbie (133) as Garret Parks (107), and Keagan Kerr (139) both had forfeits.
Logunn Heasley (152) pulled out a 2-1 win over Connor Eastabrook for their other win.
There were double forfeits at 285, and 121.
The Panthers took the first three bouts with Martin, and Kolesar opening things up with their forfeits, followed by Ellis pinning James Deakin in 1:12 for the 18-0 Panther lead.
After the no match at heavyweight Parks’ forfeit cut it to 18-6, then Alexander got his forfeit for a 24-6 score.
The double forfeit at 121 followed, followed by Comstock getting a fall over Anthony Jordan in 1:28 to make it 30-6 NEB.
Frisbie kept Troy alive with his fall over Maddex Rooker in 3:51 for a 30-12 score. Kerr’s forfeit got it to 30-18 with three matches left.
Gomez shut the door on that with his fall over Wilder Koch in 1:53.
Heasley gave Troy their final win thanks to his 1-point decision, while Howland’s decision over Watson made it a 39-21 final.
NEB (9-1) travels to Jim Thorpe next week while Troy (1-3) is off until the new year when they head to Southern Columbia on January 6.
