Northern Tier Sports ReportJIM THORPE — NEB’s Kale Howland (160) and Mason Alexander (114) both reached the podium at the Jim Thorpe Christmas Tournament.
Alexander went 5-1 over the two days to take third, beating Oley Valley’s Nathaniel Kummerer 8-4 in the bronze medal match. After losing in the semifinals he won back to back decisions to get bronze.
Howland went 5-2 to take fourth on the day, adding a fall in the consolation semifinals to get to the bronze medal match, where he lost 5-1.
Ben Ellis (215), Hunter Comstock (127), and Alex Gomez (145) all came up just short of the podium. Gomez and Comstock both went 3-2, with Ellis going 2-2.
