NTL WRESTLING: WYALUSING'S PATRICK CLAIMS JIM THORPE TITLE (2025-12-30)

JIM THORPE — Wyalusing’s Cole Patrick had a dominant run through the Jim Thorpe Christmas Tournament to claim gold at 133 pounds. He was one of five Rams who finished on the podium.

Patrick went 5-0 winning the semifinals, and finals, by major decision. He beat Wallenpaupack’s Giovanni Lomonaco 12-4 in the final four, then defeated Upper Perkiomen Sean Murray 13-4 in the finals.

Isaiah Harvey (121) ended up with silver, as Jonathan Earle (152), and Logan Wood (107) both brought home bronze. Ethan Vanderpool (189) returned to the line-up to take eighth overall.

Harvey went 4-1, beating LaSalle’s Cooper Helm by fall in the semifinals, but lost 4-3 to Pocono Mountain West’s Tony Bothwell in the finals.

Earle went 5-1, getting a 19 second fall once he dropped down into the consolations, then winning the bronze medal match 12-8 over Harry S Truman’s Malik Kelly.

Wood lost a tough 1-0 decision in the semifinals, but then picked up a 4-0 win in the consolation semifinals, before scoring a 1-0 win over Jim Thorpe’s Brian Reese in the bronze medal match. He went 5-1 over the two days.

Vanderpool had quite the ride, falling in his opener but then winning four straight matches to reach the  medals, including a 4-2 win in the blood round. He lost his final two bouts to go 4-3 over the two days.

Conner Earle (172), and Reuben Kinney (145) both went 3-2, as Bostyn McMicken (127), Brenden Wells (285), and Griffin Sheldon (139) all went 2-2 on the tournament.
