Northern Tier Sports ReportWELLSBORO — Wyalusing led for three quarters, but a 20-point fourth quarter rally from Wellsboro helped them prevail, 53-51, in NTL boys’ basketball action Tuesday.
The Rams led 42-33 going into the final frame but were held to just nine points in the fourth.
Myles Kershner netted 18 to lead Wyalusing, as Tyler Caplan scored 16, hitting eight field goals in the contest.
Noah Kilmer added seven, Shay Gartland, and Parker Cunningham had four points apiece, as Jared VandeMark notched two.
Luke Rothermel had 19 to lead Wellsboro.
The Rams came out firing as they took a 17-11 first quarter lead as Caplan and Kershner combined for six points each, with Kershner hitting two of his three 3-balls in the frame.
Kilmer would net all seven of his points in the second quarter as Wyalusing pushed their lead to 27-17 at the half.
The Hornets made up some ground in the third, out scoring Wyalusing 16-15, but were still down nine. Caplan and Kershner combined for 13 of the Rams’ 15 points in the frame.
In the fourth the Hornets hit seven field goals, while going 6-for-8 from the free throw line to pull ahead for the win.
Wyalusing (3-4) hits the road again as they travel to NP-Mansfield on Thursday.
