Northern Tier Sports ReportTOWANDA — Towanda used a strong second quarter to pull away from Wellsboro, 62-43, during NTL boys’ hoops action Thursday.
The Knights nursed a 13-11 first quarter lead, then out scored the Hornets 16-4 during the second frame, and Wellsboro never recovered.
Lucas Vincent, and Darrius Farrell had 10 points each to lead Towanda, as Graham Welles netted nine.
Keegan Stroud scored eight, with Boom Thompson, and Landon Clark both adding seven. Markell Garner finished with six, Josh Maye had four, and John Hemphill rounded things out with one point.
Colin Fletcher scored 15 to lead NP-Mansfield.
Fletcher started hot for the Hornets, scoring eight of their 11 first quarter points, while Clark, and Thompson each had five.
In the second Farrell took over, hitting two 3-balls en route to eight points as the Knights took a 29-15 lead at the break.
Towanda poured in 14 more points in the third as five different players scored to go up 43-24.
The Knights finished strong with 19 fourth quarter points as Vincent led the way with six.
Towanda (10-1) will take their 4-game win streak to NP-Mansfield next Tuesday.
