Northern Tier Sports ReportWELLSBORO — Towanda held Wellsboro scoreless in the first quarter as they rolled to a 49-12 win during NTL girls’ hoops action Friday.
The Knights led just 7-0 after one, but used a 19-point second quarter to take a 26-4 lead at the half. A 16-3 third quarter run secured the win for them.
Payton Perry had a double-double of 13 points, and 10 steals, while adding five boards, while Brynn Woodruff added nine points, four steals, and four rebounds.
Mya Maynard had eight points, six boards, and two steals, as Mary-Kate Eberlin notched five points, and two steals.
Reese Sullivan finished with four points, and three steals, as Maris Cobb notched four points, too.
Taylor Aquilio and Kennedy Heyer had three points apiece, with Heyer grabbing four boards, and nabbing two steals.
Woodruff hit a 3-ball in the opening frame to lead the Knights, while Perry and Eberlin had five points each in the second to pace their 19 point effort.
Perry, and Maynard had four points apiece in the third as they took a 42-7 lead.
Towanda won the JV game 34-6.
Towanda (9-1) will travel to NP-Mansfield next Tuesday.
