Northern Tier Sports ReportMANSFIELD — Towanda fell 43-41 to NP-Mansfield during NTL girls’ hoops action on Wednesday.
The game was tied at 35 going into the fourth when NPM held the Knights to just one field goal as they eked out the win.
Brynn Woodruff had 13 points, and five boards to lead Towanda as Mya Maynard notched a double-double of 12 points, and 10 rebounds.
Payton Perry had six points, and two steals, as Reese Sullivan, and Taylor Aquilio finished with four points apiece. Aquilio also had four boards, and three steals.
Karis Flynn finished with two points, and five steals, while Mary-Kate Eberlin chipped in with two steals.
Kameron Lightner had 13 points to lead NPM, while Madelyn McNamara netted 12.
Towanda jumped out to a 14-10 first quarter lead behind four points from Aquilio, and Maynard, while Lightner netted five for the Tigers.
NPM chipped away at the lead in the second, out scoring Towanda 9-7 in the second as Maynard had four points to lead the Knights in the frame.
The Tigers would knot things up with a 16-point third quarter behind eight from McNamara, while Woodruff scored six.
In the final frame Maynard had the lone Towanda field goal, as they went 4-for-6 from the free throw line.
NPM, though, had two field goals, and went 4-for-4 from the charity stripe to get the win.
Towanda won the JV game, 50-18, behind 11 points from Eberlin, and Maris Cobb.
Towanda (9-3) will host Wyalusing on Friday.
