NTL GIRLS' BASKETBALL: GIANA RENZI, RENZO LEAD TROY PAST NP-MANSFIELD (2026-01-16)

MANSFIELD — Troy girls’ basketball continued to roll through the NTL on the strength of their defense, this time besting NP-Mansfield, 61-29, Friday.

It was tight early, with Troy leading 10-5 after one, but a 19-point second quarter saw the Trojans go up 29-10 at the half. 

The offenses opened up in the third, with Troy out scoring the Tigers 19-17, then held NPM to two in the fourth to secure the win.

Giana Renzi shot 7-for-15, including 3-for-6 from downtown, for 20 points to lead Troy, as Kyah Renzo had a double-double of 18 points, and 10 boards. She shot 8-for-14, while nabbing five steals.

Izzy Renzi had 12 points, six boards, six steals, and two blocks, as Raelyn Woodward added seven points, and five boards.

Emma Mickley had four points, seven rebounds, and two blocks, while Haidyn Watson chipped in with eight boards, three assists, and two steals.

Madalyn McNamara led NPM with 12.

Giana, and Kyah each had four to lead Troy in the opening frame, then Giana went off for eight points in the second quarter. Kyah added five more, and the Trojans led by 19 as they went into the locker rooms.

The offense continued in the third, with Renzo and Giana each scoring seven points, with Kameron Lightner leading NPM’s effort with six points, though they still trailed by 21.

Izzy netted five to lead a balanced Troy effort in the fourth as they secured the win.

Troy (11-3) will head to Sayre next Tuesday as they start cross-over NTL action.
