Northern Tier Sports ReportTIOGA JUNCTION — Troy went 5-1 at the Battle at the Border Duals, taking second place to the hosts Williamson.
Troy beat Arkport (41-33), Addison (48-18), Alfred-Almond (48-30), Avoca-Prattsburg (53-11), and Campbell-Savona (52-18) before falling to the Warriors (52-20).
“It was just a great day of wrestling for our boys,” said Troy coach Tony Carter. “Sometimes it’s nice to wrestle teams from outside our local area, so there’s no preconceived idea of what the outcome should be going into each match. Our motto of the day was to wrestle free and let it fly. That’s exactly what they did and it was fun to watch. Williamson hosted a great tournament, which ran smooth all day with help from a a top tier officiating team. Shout out to all of our local officials who dedicate a big chunk of their personal lives to make a competition like today possible.”
Garret Parks and Logunn Heasley both went 6-0 for the Trojans, as Keegan Kerr, Hunter Watson, and Reed Palmer all went 5-1.
Marcus Frisbie, Wilder Koch, and Thomas Moon finished 4-2, with Anthony Jordan, and James Deakin each going 3-3.
In the win over Arkport Parks (107), Jordan (121), Moon (172), and Palmer (285) all had falls, with Heasley (152), and Watson (160) getting forfeits.
Kerr (133) scored a 21-6 tech fall.
