THE SPORTS REPORT: NOTRE DAME'S YOUNG NAMED 'GIRLS SOCCER PLAYER OF YEAR;' TROY'S McROBERTS, PRATT, NEB'S BEEBE ALSO EARN ALL-REGION TOP HONORS (2026-01-26)

The Sports Reports
It was a strong season on both sides of the border, making for a talented group of players on The Sports Reports / Ziff Law Firm All-Region Girls’ Soccer teams. 

Notre Dame’s MK Young had a dominant season and she is the Ziff Law Firm All-Region "Girls’ Soccer Player of the Year." Young was a first-team all-state player, who helped lead Notre Dame to a sectional final. 

She is a junior with more than 50 career goals and is committed to Division I Hofstra. Despite being the focus of every defense she had 21 goals and six assists on the year. 

Horseheads’ Katie Miley is one of the best defensive players in New York State and she is the "Defensive Player of the Year" for the second straight year. She was a third-team all-state player and an anchor on the Blue Raiders sectional championship team.

Troy’s Alexis Robert is the "Offensive Player of the Year." She scored 30-plus goals this year, including the 50th of her career. She helped Troy go unbeaten in the NTL and make a district final, qualifying for states for the first time. 

Troy coach Wayne Pratt is the "Coach of the Year" after the big season for the Trojans.

The "Goalkeeper of the Year" is Leah Beebe of Northeast Bradford, who had more than 200 saves on the year.

Hayli Smith of Wellsboro and Eliza Crandall of Edison share the "Newcomer of the Year" Honors. 

Crandall, an 8th grader, was a first-team IAC all-star with five goals and eight assists. Smith, a freshman, had 12 goals and four assists.

MK Young, Notre Dame:

Saydi Renzo, Troy: Renzo notched her 50th career assist during the season. She now has 50-plus goals and assists in her career. 

Ashlyn Dalton, Owego: Dalton matched last year’s 17-goal output, more than any other player in the county. She accounted for all but four of the River Hawks’ goals and also had two assists. She was a STAC Central / East All-Conference pick.

Brooke Wilox, North Penn-Mansfield: Wilcox scored 39 goals and dished out six assists this year.

Grace Howey, Tioga:
Howey, who is just as fast with the ball at her feet as she is without, scored 16 goals and dished out 12 assists.

Giana Renzi, Troy:
Renzi scored more than 20 goals and doled out 16 assists on the year, making up part of Troy’s ‘Trinity’ on the attacking side.

Jadyn Dunlap, Wellsboro: Dunlap had 168 saves and six shutouts for the Hornets.

Maggie Calkins, Corning: A STAC All-Conference selection, Calkins was a key contributor throughout the entire season and played every single minute of every single game. Her consistency, toughness, and leadership set the tone for our entire back line and helped define our success this season.

Hayden Robertson, Corning: Robertson was instrumental in Corning’s success. A constant scoring threat, she delivered when it mattered most, scoring the game-winning goals against Vestal and Union-Endicott. She was named a defensive all-division all-star.

Mackenzie Olmstead, Waverly: A fierce, tireless and tenacious defender with good speed and a non-stop motor, Olmsted was also a threat at the offensive end. She finished the season with five goals and one assist.

Delanie Patton, Athens:
A super-smart player with exceptional speed and a strong leg, Patton scored 12 goals and dished out three assists

Allie Lyon, SVEC: One of the quickest and most accurate forwards in the area, Lyon led the Eagles with 16 goals and 10 assists. She was selected as an IAC South Large School first team all-star.

Ellie Green, Notre Dame: A defensvie standout for the Crusaders this year.

Gianna Capilli, Elmira: The freshman defender played every minute of every game. She had three goals and one assist from her defensive position.

Sydney Blunt, Horseheads: Blunt, who 13 goals, including two goals in the regional game, and eight assists. 

Maddie Ribble, Horseheads: The ying to Sydney Blunt’s yang. Ribble had 11 goals and three assists playing most of the season at midfield. On her first game at striker she had a hat trick.

ALL-REGION SECOND TEAM
Addisyn Bly, Wyalusing:
The Bradford County all-stars "Utility Player of the Year," Bly, who had a big leg and helped control the midfield,  did a little of everything for the Rams.

Luna Moyer, Wellsboro: The midfielder had seven goals and three assists on the year.

Adalyne Yungwirth, North Penn-Mansfield: Yungwirth had three goals and six assists as a defender.

Brynna Walsh, Corning: Walsh was involved in nearly every scoring opportunity Corning created this season and earned all-division honors.

Sophia Haney, Tioga: Haney, who had another knee surgery after injuring her knee late in her junior season, got better and better as the season progressed. The program's all-time leading goal-scorer with 53 goals, she finished the season with 12 goals and five assists.

Brinley Nichols, Athens: A heady player and a facilitator on the field, Nichols scored four goals and doled out a team-high five assists.

Kaitlyn Sutton, Waverly: Fast and not afraid of contact, Sutton scored six goals and dished out three assists.

Maci Wheeler, Waverly: A superb defender, Wheeler also made her presence known on the offensive end with five goals and two assists.

Annika Smith, Newark Valley: Smith plays the sweeper position as well as anyone, collecting loose balls, intercepting through-balls and covering gaps left by other defenders. The senior also contributed two goals and three assists to NV’s scoring totals, and was an IAC South Small School first team all-star.

Meredith Stouffer, junior, SVEC: An athletic and physical presence in the midfield, Stouffer scored eight goals and doled out 10 assists.

Hannah Lasko, Edison: Lasso had seven goals and was a second-team IAC pick. 

Aurora Parlo, Edison: The sweeper for the Spartans, Parlo was an all-IAC pick. She had two goals and an assist from her defensive position. 

Kalysta DeMark, Notre Dame: DeMark didn’t miss a minute as an outside back for Notre Dame.

Jhamariah Maxwell, Notre Dame: An athletic senior who played a key role in the Notre Dame attack, Maxwell was a first-team all-IAC pick.
 
Rose Daly, Notre Dame: A first-team IAC pick as a freshman.

Gracelyn Wheeler, Elmira: Wheeler had six goals and two assists for the Express, and was a STAC all-division pick.

Delaney Billbe, Elmira:
The freshman had 123 saves in goal for the Express and was an all-division pick in the STAC.

Lexi Lese, Horseheads: Lese was an all-division defender. 

Samantha Bonnell, Horseheads: A fast, athletic forward for the Blue Raiders, Bonnell wass an all-division pick. 

Treanan Nickerson, Wyalusing: A key defender for the Rams.

ALL-REGION THIRD TEAM
Payton Sutryk Notre Dame:
A force in goal for the Crusaders. 

Vayda Rought, Northeast Bradford.

Jaylee Ward, Troy.


Ella Boyce, Wellsboro: Boyce had seven goals and three assists on the year.

Anna Lee, Williamson.

Keana Mann, Corning: Mann is arguably one of the best midfield defenders in our league.the STAC. She consistently matched up against the strongest opposing midfielders, and was an all-division performer. 

Kenna Kempton, Corning: Kempton embraced a major challenge this season by transitioning from her natural role as a defender into the midfield. She was also a major offensive threat on corner kicks, scoring a hat trick in the Section IV semifinals.

Olivia Thompson, senior, Athens: A very good all-around athlete, Thompson scored five goals and had one assist.

Marci Moniz, junior, Tioga: Athletic, with a good head for the game, Moniz was an integral part of the divisional champion Tigers, who also posted their second-ever postseason win. She recorded 132 saves in 19 games, had four one-goal games, including a 1-0 double-OT loss to Groton in the IAC Championship game, and two shutouts.
 
Iris McCloskey, junior, Newark Valley: A staple in the Cardinals’ lineup as their stopper, she chipped in with a pair of goals and was an IAC South Small School first team all-star.

Leah Clark, sophomore, Owego: A strong defender, her skills earned her a spot as a STAC Central/East All-Conference player.

Claire Clonch, Waverly: Athletic with a high soccer IQ, Clonch recorded 158 saves in net for the Wolverines, who advanced to the Section IV, Class A championship game. She recorded three shutouts and six one-goal games.

Kaylynn Tarby, Edison: The goaltender had a key role for the Spartans this year. 

Avery McCauley, Elmira: The freshman played every minute of every game, starting at midfielder, but moving to defense due to injuries on the team.
 
Ella Bachert, Horseheads: An all-division pick for Horseheads, she helped them win sectional title.

Olivia Hornsby, Horseheads:
Hornsby was an all-division pick for the Blue Raiders. 

ALL-REGION FOURTH TEAM
Jocelyn Brown, Northeast Bradford.

Kennedy Heyer, Towanda.

Maddie Bailey, Williamson.


Gianna Soprano, Waverly: 
Fast with a good head for the game and a strong leg, Soprano had six goals and one assist.

Abby Burgess, senior, Athens: Extremely fast and not shy around contact, Burgess scored six goals.

Lizzie Gorsline, senior, Athens: A very good defender, Gorsline was a force in the midfield. She scored three goals and dished out a pair of assists.

Emily Zwierlein, senior, Tioga: A physical and fiery defender, Zwierlein was a key cog in Tioga's defense.

Melanie Stevens, 8th grade, SVEC:
  A nice compliment to Lyon and Stouffer, the young forward contributed six goals and four assists, and was chosen an IAC South Small School second team all-star.

Hailey Hamilton, Elmira: Hamilton had five goals and an assist as a freshman.

Emily Coseo, Notre Dame: Coseo was a second-team IAC pick.

Sloane Moss, Elmira:
A standout senior midifelder for the Express.

Hayli Smith, Wellsboro: See above.

Melanie Stevens, SVEC: See above.

Izzy Renzi, Troy: The freshman played a key role for the Trojans this year, and was a bit part of the reason they beat Hughesville in the district finals.

Amelia Toomey, junior, Tioga:  former volleyball player, Toomey made an immediate impact on the defensive end of the pitch for the Tigers with her physical brand of defense and strong leg.

Annika Lezak, Athens:
Very athletic, Lezak had some great games in net for the Wildcats.

Kendal Cook, Towanda:
Cook took over keeper roll after Mya Maynard hurt her hand and excelled.

Izzy Kapr, Northeast Bradford:
A first-year senior, Kaur made a big impact for the Panthers.

Kendra Turshman, Owego.

Jenna McEvoy, Owego.

Leila Garverick, North Penn-Mansfield.
: Garverick scored two goals and dished out three assists on the year. 

Karina Swarthout, Corning:
Swartout was a difference-maker in the postseason, coming up with numerous huge saves when Corning needed them most. 

Paige Vaughn, Edison: The 8th-grader had one goal and one assist.

Raygane Oakes, Waverly: A steady performer and contributor for the Wolverines as a freshman.

Alexis Mayo, freshman, Athens: Mayo made an impact for the Wildcats as a freshman.
