Northern Tier Sports ReportHORSEHEADS, N.Y. — Wyalusing got in too big a hole as they fell to Horseheads, 41-35, during non-league wrestling action Tuesday.
They fell 30-6 after the first seven weights.
They won five of the next seven bouts to try and rally, but came up short.
Jonathan Earle (157), Conner Earle (175), Isaiah Harvey (126), Daniel Fox (215), and Brenden Wells (285) all had falls for the Rams, with Reuben Kinney scoring a tech fall.
Zachary Schrage (165) had Horseheads’ lone fall as Josh Knapp (110), Jaxson Burchard, and Tanner Knapp (118) all scored tech falls, while Damian Saks (144) earned an injury default win.
Nolan Miller (103) had a forfeit, as Kole Zufall (138), and Gavin Hornsby (132) both scored major decision.
Miller opened the match with a forfeit, followed by Josh Knapp scoring an 18-2 tech fall over Logan Wood in 4:32, then Tanner Knapp picked up a 19-0 tech fall in 4:39 over Austin Jones.
Harvey got a 56 second pin over Nate Miller to get the Rams on the scoreboard.
Hornsby then earned a 14-0 major decision over Bostyn McMicken, followed by Zufall winning 17-7 against Griffin Sheldon.
Saks’ injury default win over Sullivan McCracken give the Raiders their 24 point lead.
Kinney’s 20-2 tech fall in 3:41 over Trent Woodward start the Wyalusing rally, as Jonathan Earle got his fall over Aziz Gafsi in 1:09 to make it 30-17.
Schrage’s fall over Holden Patrick in 52 seconds put the Raiders up 36-17.
Conner Earle’s pin of James Tousely in 52 seconds kept Wyalusing’s hopes alive, down 36-23.
Burchard’s 21-6 win over Ethan Vanderpool in 3:28 shut the door for the Rams.
Fox would Finn Connor Warrick in 2:30, while Wells got a 1:31 fall over Zachary Kaiser.
