Northern Tier Sports ReportTIOGA JUNCTION — Canton couldn’t quite dig out of an early hole as they fell to Williamson, 41-29, during District IV Duals action Wednesday.
Williamson won the first six bouts - winning eight in all - as they took a 30-0 lead. Canton won the next three to cut it to 30-17, but Williamson was able to split the last four to get the win.
Carson Tillotson (152), Carson Rockwell (160), Blane Wesneski (189), and Leland Pepper (215) all had fall for Canton, as Tommy Preston (145) scored a tech fall.
Zander Wilson (114), and Luke Sottolano (285) had forfeits for Williamson, while Xander Stafford (121), Kolton Putt (127), and Steven Olson (172) all scored falls.
Kohen Vandelinde (139) earned a tech fall, Hunter Simonds (133) had a major decision, and Hyde Walker (107) pulled out a regular decision.
Walker got things started for Williamson with his 14-11 win over Levi Vermilya. Vermilya led 7-0 after one, but Hyde took a 9-8 lead going into the third period.
Vermilya started on top, and got three near fall points, but Hyde got the reversal to tie it up and send it into overtime. Hyde them got the winning takedown in sudden victory.
Wilson’s forfeit made it 9-0, followed by Stafford pinning Carson Castle in 2:00.
Putt pinned Henry Proseus in 27 seconds, followed by Simonds earning a 12-0 win over Gavin Sharp. Vandelinde’s 17-2 win in 4:36 over Owen Moore gave them the 30-0 lead.
Preston got Canton on the scoreboard with a 15-0 tech fall in 2:50 over Ryder Dacheux, followed by Tilloston’s pin over Memphis Brockway in 4:51.
The other Carson, Rockwell, would pin Anthony Baker in 1:48, but Olson’s fall over Manuel Halbfoerster in 3:48 put the match out of reach for Canton.
Wesneski pinned Harlow Little in 1:40, followed by Pepper pinning Riley Rall in 2:17, while Sottolano ended things with the forfeit.
