Northern Tier Sports ReportWESTFIELD — Canton used a big third quarter to break away for a 51-19 win over CV during NTL girls’ hoops action Thursday.
The Warriors led 21-12 at the half, then used a 22-point third quarter to pull away for the win.
Cailyn Van Noy had 16 points, nine steals, five boards, and three assists for Canton, as Lydia Roupp notched 14 points, and nine rebounds.
Danah Wesneski added seven points, and two steals, with Brenna Van Noy getting six points.
Alexis McRoberts had four points, seven rebounds, four assists, and three steals, with Cheyanne Fitch getting three points.
Stella Rockwell chipped in with one point, four rebounds, three assists, and four steals, as Daveian Crowley had two steals.
Starr Ordway had seven points to lead CV.
Canton led 11-5 after one behind five points from Wesneski. The Indians played them tough in the second, with Canton out scoring them 10-7 behind 3-balls from the Van Noy sisters.
Then came the big third quarter as the Warriors had nine field goals, led by Cailyn Van Noy’s 10 points. Roupp chipped in with seven points.
Up 43-16 going into the fourth Roupp led Canton in the final frame with five points.
Canton won the JV game 45-12 behind 14 from Brenna Van Noy, and nine by Lucy Proseus.
Canton (14-4) travels to NEB on Tuesday.
