NTL BOYS' BASKETBALL: TROY COMES UP SHORT AT WELLSBORO (2026-02-01)

WELLSBORO — A rough third quarter doomed Troy as they fell at Wellsboro, 59-53, during NTL boys’ hoops action Saturday.

The Trojans led 26-24 at the half, but were out scored 17-8 in the third. Down seven to start the fourth, Troy netted 19 points in the final frame, but Wellsboro scored 18 themselves to pull out the win.

Spencer Martin had 12 points, four boards, and five assists for the Trojans, as Trey Teribury notched 10 points.

Josiah Pesesky had nine points, and five boards, with Evan Allen adding eight points. Aiden Lawrence finished with six points, and four rebounds, as Landon Cole had five points.

Pryor Teribury added three points, four boards, and three assists, with Cameron Morey getting six rebounds.

Colin Fletcher led Wellsboro with 31 points.

The Hornets led 15-13 after the first quarter behind 10 points from Luke Rothermel while Martin had five for Troy, and Allen netted four.

The Trojans rallied in the second, out scoring the Hornets 13-9 behind four points from Trey to take a 2-point lead at the half.

The Wellsboro defense put the clamps on in the third, holing the Trojans to eight points, while Fletcher netted 11 to lead the Hornet charge that saw them take a 7-point lead going into the final frame.

In the fourth Lawrence had six to lead Troy’s rally but Wellsboro did enough at the free throw line - 12-for-21 - to pull out the win.

Troy (11-7) hosts NP-Mansfield on Monday.
