NTL BOYS' BASKETBALL: TOWANDA PULLS AWAY FROM TROY (2026-02-04)

TOWANDA — Towanda pulled away from Troy for a 58-42 win during NTL boys’ hoops action Wednesday.

“Tonight was a step in the right direction for a lot of our guys,” said Towanda coach Landon Henry. “It’s starting to click for these guys, and this is the time of the year we need that. Defensively, I was pleased with our engagement and ability to control the pace of the game.”

The victory keeps the Knights in the top spot for the NTL Large School title, just ahead of Athens. The Wildcats are one game back after beating NP-Mansfield on Wednesday, who falls to two games behind Towanda.

The Knights have two league games left - at Wellsboro Friday, and home against NP-Mansfield on Monday.

Towanda led 17-11 after one, with the Trojans chipping it away to 28-23 at the half.

A 12-4 third quarter in favor of the Black Knights put them up 40-27.

Troy responded with 15 fourth quarter points as they rallied, but the Knights had 18 points - going 7-for-10 from the free throw line.

Darrius Farrell and Boom Thompson had 12 points each to lead Towanda, as Keegan Stroud netted nine.

Graham Welles added eight, Lucas Vincent notched seven, Markell Garner came away with six, and Josh Maye rounded out the scorers with four.

Trey Teribury had 14 points, four boards, and two steals for the Trojans, as Josiah Pesesky added eight points, and 11 rebounds.

Aidan Lawrence came away with six points, and two steals, with Spencer Martin adding five points, and three assists.

Landon Cole notched four points, Evan Allen had three points, and Pryor Teribury finished with two points. Cameron Morey chipped in with four boards.

Stroud led Towanda in the first quarter, scoring six points, while Teribury had eight of Troy’s 11.

In the second frame Pesesky, and Cole had four points each to lead Troy, as Vincent, Stroud, and Welles all had 3-pointers to keep Towanda ahead.

Thompson went off for eight in the third to power the Knights to the 13 point lead.

In the fourth Lawrence and Trey each had four points to power Troy’s rally, while Farrell netted 10 of his 12 points in the fourth to lead the Knights.

Troy will host Athens on Friday.
