NTL GIRLS' BASKETBALL: CANTON TOPS NPL FOR FOURTH TIME THIS SEASON (2026-02-05)

CANTON — Canton defeated NP-Liberty, 54-27 in NTL girls hoops, to go 4-0 against the Mounties this year.

The Warriors won the first two games in tournament finals, then took both divisional contests.

Canton led 11-6 after one, then pushed that lead to 21-13 at the half.

A 17-9 run in the third allowed the Warriors to go up 38-22, then they finished things off with a 16 point fourth quarter.

Cailyn Van Noy had 21 points, six boards, and four steals to lead Canton, as Danah Wesneski notched 12 points, seven steals, and four assists.

Alexis McRoberts and Lydia Roupp had six points each, with McRoberts getting seven boards, and Roupp nabbing four.

Emma McGhee scored three points, while Stella Rockwell, Lucy Proseus, and Daveian Crowley had two points apiece. Rockwell added five steals, as Cheyanne Fitch finished with four boards.

Haley Litzelman had 13 points to lead NPL.

Litzelman hit two 3-balls in the first quarter to open things up, but Van Noy paced the Warriors with six points of her own for the 5-point lead at the first horn.

Four different Canton players scored in the second - with Van Noy and McRoberts getting three points each - as they took the eight point lead into the locker rooms.

Van Noy and Wesneski had seven points each in their big third quarter, while in the fourth six different Warriors scored.

Canton won the JV game, 36-33, in double overtime as Proseus had 12 points.

Canton will host Sayre on Saturday night.
