Northern Tier Sports ReportMANSFIELD — Wyalusing held off a late NP-Mansfield charge, pulling out the 53-49 NTL girls’ hoops win on Thursday.
The Rams led 26-23 at the half, then out scored the Tigers 10-7 in the third quarter.
NPM would rally with 18 points in the final frame, but Wyalusing had 17 of their own to take the win.
Alysha Botts had 16 points to lead Wyalusing, as Treanna Nickeson and Emily Johns had 10 points apiece.
Jenna Morningstar added seven, while Brinley Sterling, and Liz Kilmer each scored six.
The Rams took a 12-7 lead in the opening frame behind six points from Nickeson, and five out of Botts.
NPM rallied in the second, out scoring Wyalusing 16-14 as Johns led the Rams with eight points.
Four different Wyalusing players scored in the third to extend their lead to 36-31 going into the fourth.
In the final frame Botts had eight points to lead Wyalusing, including a 4-for-6 performance from the line, to get the win.
The Rams face Towanda Saturday night with a berth in the NTL Showcase on the line.
