Northern Tier Sports ReportTROY — Troy pulled out a 54-49 win over Jersey Shore during non-league boys’ hoops action Saturday.
The Trojans jumped out to a 19-6 first quarter lead, but saw the Bulldogs rally in the second, cutting it to 27-22 at the half.
Troy punched back in the third quarter, netting 16 more points as they extended their lead to 43-28.
Jersey Shore rallied in the fourth, scoring 21 points, but it wasn’t enough as the Trojans went 9-for-12 from the free throw line to ice the game, despite only scoring one field goal in the fourth.
Josiah Pesesky had 15 points and seven boards to lead the Trojans, as Spencer Martin added 13 points, five assists, and two steals.
Trey Teribury notched 11 points, and six boards, while Evan Allen scored five points.
Pryor Teribury, and Landon Cole had three points each, with Cameron Morey, and Aidan Lawrence adding two points apiece. Morey also had 13 boards, and four assists.
Pesesky started hot out of the gates, netting 11 of Troy’s 19 first quarter points to lead them to the 13-point lead at the first horn.
After seeing their lead dwindle Trey had a big third quarter, scoring six points, as Pesesky added four more, to help the Trojans re-assert themselves.
Then in the fourth Martin went 6-for-8 from the free throw line to lead Troy.
Troy (13-9) will wait to see who they get in the opening round of District IV play.
