NTL GIRLS HOOPS: STERLING HELPS WYALUSING HOLD OFF ATHENS (2026-02-09)

ATHENS — Wyalusing survived a late Athens rally to top the Wildcats, 48-41 in overtime, during NTL girls hoops action Monday.

The Rams led 32-27 going into the fourth quarter when Athens out scored them 12-7 to send the game into overtime.

In the extra period Brinley Sterling had five points for Wyalusing, who also went 4-for-4 from the free throw line, to escape with the win.

Emily Johns led Wyalusing with 19 points, as Alysha Botts added 12 points. Jenna Morningstar netted 10, as Sterling’s five rounded out the team.

McKenna Jarvis had 18 to lead Athens.

Wyalusing led 6-1 at the first horn behind four points from Johns.

Athens cut it to 17-13 at the half as Alison Kemp netted five points. Johns and Morningstar combined for eight points to lead the Rams.

The offenses opened up in the third as Wyalusing out scored Athens 15-14 behind six from Botts, while Javis netted 10 to lead Athens.

The Wildcats held Wyalusing to just two field goals in the fourth quarter as they tied up the game.

Wyalusing will now wait and see the results of the NP-Mansfield and Towanda game on Tuesday. An NPM win and the Rams are in the NTL Showcase, a Towanda win and they’re out.
