NTL GIRLS BASKETBALL: NEB JUMPS OUT EARLY TO BEAT MONTGOMERY (2026-02-17)

ROME — NEB made quick work of Montgomery, besting the Raiders 61-25, during the quarterfinal round of the District IV, Class AA girls’ hoops playoffs.

The Panthers led 21-4 after one and never looked back.

“It feels good,” NEB coach Ben Beebe said about getting into the semifinals. “Our girls came out a little sloppy, so hopefully get the nerves out before we get rolling in two more.”

Kara Dughi had 15 points, four boards, and three steals to lead the Panthers, as Leah Beebe, and Mallorie Maynard netted 14 points apiece. Maynard also had seven assists, six boards, and three steals, as Beebe notched six assists, and three steals.

Aurelia Kolesar had seven points, and six rebounds, with Sarah Gray netting five points.

Katrina Russell finished with four points, nine boards, and three steals, as Izzy Kapr had two points, and Janna Laudermilch added two steals.

The Panther backcourt of Beebe and Dughi combined for 14 of their 21 first quarter points.

NEB went on to out score Montgomery 18-4 in the second quarter as Beebe netted seven.

Maynard went off in the third, scoring nine of her team’s 15 as they went up 54-13.

NEB will face Southern Columbia, 40-33 winners over Canton, in a semifinal at a time, place, and date to be determined.

“I’m looking forward to either one of them,” Beebe said. “I like good games, and that’s the way it’s going to be.”
