The winter sports postseason speedily slides into the future as three area hoops teams remain, while wrestling gets down to the next to last weekend of the season.
WRESTLING
Friday, February 27 & Saturday, February 28
Northeast Regionals at Williamsport, 5 p.m. & 9 a.m.: 15 wrestlers from the area are still alive and will look to keep their season going as they face the best from District IV & District II this weekend. The top four qualify for states
GIRLS WRESTLING
Saturday, February 28
Central Regionals at Milton, 9 a.m.: Seven area athletes remain as they look to punch their tickets to Hershey. The top four qualify for states.
BOYS BASKETBALL
Wednesday, February 25
NEB vs Muncy at Montoursville, 7:30 p.m.: The second of a back to back for the Class AA title. Muncy defeated NEB in overtime during the semifinals a year ago.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Wednesday, February 25
Troy vs Loyalsock at Mansfield University, 7 p.m.: The Trojans take on the defending state champions in the Class AAA semifinal. Loyalsock rolled past Line Mountain in the quarterfinals while Troy defeated Wyalusing. Win or lose Troy will play again on Saturday.
Thursday, February 26
NEB vs Northwest, TBA: The Panthers will meet the Rangers to decide who moves on to states in the Class AA consolation finals. These two teams met three years ago in the same spot with Northwest rallying in the fourth for a win.
SWIMMING & DIVING
Wednesday, February 25 & Thursday, February 26
Towanda at District IV Championships at Williamsport, 5:30 p.m.: The Knights will send their best down to take on the best in District IV.
