Northern Tier Sports ReportHERSHEY — NEB freshman Asher Kolesar went 0-2 at the first day of the PIAA Wrestling Championships Thursday, to fall out of the tournament.
Kolesar was pinned by North Star’s Kasey Yoder in 3:49 in the preliminaries, then lost by fall in 3:29 to Chestnut Ridge’s Jayden Imler during the first round of consolations.
In the bout against Yoder Kolesar gave up a single leg takedown to find himself in a 3-0 hole.
He went on the offensive in the second period, getting in a single leg attack of his own but Yoder was able to defend it off.
Yoder then got his leg, elevated it, then tripped him to take Kolesar to his back for the pin.
In the consolation bout Imler got a quick takedown to Kolesar’s back for a 7-0 lead off the whistle.
Kolesar battled him to a scoreless second period, but in the third Imler got the takedown, then pinned Kolesar.
