Northern Tier Sports Report
HERSHEY — Canton’s Carson Rockwell went 0-2 at the first day of the PIAA Wrestling Championships Thursday, falling out of the tournament.

Rockwell lost 4-2 to Slippery Rock’s Zac Tuberville in the quarterfinals, then fell 11-4 to General McLane’s Peter Sadchikov in the first round of consolations.

The first bout was a nail-biter as Rockwell nearly got a takedown in the first period.

Taking down in the second he did a sit, then turned into him to get the reversal. He exposed Tuberville’s back to the mat, but only got one swipe from it.

Tuberville got an escape to start the third, then got in deep on a shot that Rockwell couldn’t keep him from finishing for the 4-2 lead.

From there he rode Rockwell out for the win.

In the consi bout it was scoreless after one, with Rockwell taking a 1-0 lead in the second period.

Sadchikov got a takedown after that, with Rockwell getting another escape for a 3-2 lead.

Sadchikov made it 4-2 with an escape, then got a takedown and back point to open up a 10-2 lead.

Rockwell would get a reversal to cut it to 10-4, but couldn’t turn him, with Sadchikov getting an escape late for the 11-4 final.
