SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT — Troy’s Lauren Reed had a career day as the Trojans rolled past the defending District IV champions, South Williamsport, 12-2, in five innings for their season opening softball win.

The Trojans scored five runs in both the first and second innings, then tacked on two more in the fifth.

Reed (3-for-4) had a double, 4-RBI, and two runs scored, while Erinn Knapp (1-for-3) had a home run with 3-RBI. She also got the win, going five innings with seven strikeouts, four walks, no hits, and two unearned runs.

Sydnee Bellows (2-for-4) had a triple, with three runs scored, and an RBI, as Izzy Renzi (2-for-3) scored twice.

Danielle Roy (2-for-2) had a double with a run scored, as Haidyn Watson (1-for-3) had a double with 2-RBI, and two runs scored.

Delaney Kendall (1-for-1) also had a hit, with Maddyson Muir driving in a run.

In the top of the first Renzi opened things up with a hit, followed by Bellows reaching on an error, then Watson drew a walk to load the bases.

Reed then singled in two runs for a 2-0 lead.

That set up Knapp’s taking the 1-1 offering over the centerfield fence for a 5-0 advantage.

In the second Roy, Renzi, and Bellows had three straight hits to load the bases.

That set up back to back 2-run scoring doubles from Watson and Reed to push the lead to 9-0.

After an out Muir hit a sacrifice fly to drive in Reed for a 10-0 score.

In the fifth Troy went with two outs as, after Kendall singled, Bellows hit a 2-out triple to drive her in. She scored on an error off the bat of Watson for a 12-0 score.

South scored twice in the bottom half of the inning for the 10-run difference.
