Athens struck first with a run in the third, while the Knights came back with a run in the fifth.
Athens retook the lead with a run in the sixth, then pulled away with a 4-run seventh.
Boom Thompson (1-for-3) had an RBI as Brad Assante (1-for-3) and Shane Maghamez (1-for-2) also had hits. Gage Evans scored their run.
Lucas Vincent started, and went six innings with three strikeouts, four walks, three hits, and two earned runs.
Maghamez went the final inning with three walks, one hit, and four runs, two of which were earned.
Evans opened the fifth with a walk, then after two outs Sammy Fulmer drew a walk to keep the inning alive. Thompson then singled in Evans for Towanda’s one run.
