Northern Tier Sports ReportWYALUSING — Wyalusing lost a tough extra innings baseball game to NP-Mansfield, 4-3, falling in eight innings during NTL action.
The Rams led 1-0 after one and made it stuck until the sixth, when the two teams traded runs.
The Tigers put up two in the seventh to take a 3-2 lead, but in the bottom half Wyalusing forced extra baseball with a run of their own.
NPM would score in the eighth to get the win.
Owen Brown (2-for-4) scored and drove in a run, as Marshall Huston (1-for-4) had a double with an RBI.
Michael Phillips (1-for-4) and Griffins Sheldon both scored, as Campbell Carr (1-for-3) had an RBI.
Dawson Biza went the first six innings, striking out one with no walks, four hits, and one unearned run.
Jared VandeMark pitched the final two innings with one strikeout, no walks, three hits, and three runs, two of which were earned.
In the first Sheldon led off by reaching on an error, then scored on a 2-out single from Brown.
The Rams went with two outs again in the sixth. Brown would single, then with two outs Hugo kept the inning alive by getting hit by a pitch.
That led to Carr singling in Brown to retake the lead.
Back to back doubles in the seventh allowed NPM to go up 3-2.
Wyalusing continued to be clutch in the bottom half of the inning as Phillips reached on a 2-out single, then scored on Huston’s double to keep them alive.
In the top of the eighth NPM’s Andy Hermansen led off the inning by reaching an error, and later scoring on a ground out.
In the bottom half the Rams went down in order.
