Northern Tier Sports ReportWYSOX — Towanda fell in a tight one to Elk Lake, 4-3, during non-league baseball action Saturday.
It was tied at one after the first inning, then the Warriors went up 4-1 with three runs in the fourth. Towanda responded with a 2-run sixth, but couldn’t get the tying run across.
Gage Evans (1-for-2) had a double with a run scored, and an RBI, as Lucas Vincent scored, and drove in a run.
Boom Thompson also scored, Avery Butts drove in a run, and Shane Maghamez (1-for-3) had a hit.
Brad Assante started, and went 3 1/3-innings with five strikeouts, six walks, five hits, and four runs, three of which were earned.
Vincent went the next 2 2/3-innings with five strikeouts, two walks, one hit, and no runs, with Butts going the final inning, with one strikeout.
Thompson opened up the first inning with a walk, then scored on a Vincent ground out two batters later.
In the fifth Vincent led off with a walk, then scored on an Evans 1-out double. After a walk to Hudson Stevens Evans would score on a Butts ground out.
