Northern Tier Sports ReportWELLSBORO — Troy fell to Wellsboro, 10-0 in five innings, during NTL baseball action Wednesday.
The Hornets opened the game with four runs in the first, then tacked on three more in the second. After a scoreless third they pushed one across in the fourth, then finished with two more in the fifth to get the win.
Mason Smith (1-for-3) and Brendan Gilliland (1-for-2) had the two Trojan hits.
Reed Palmer started, and went 1 1/3-innings with three strikeouts, six walks, three hits, and seven runs, five of which were earned.
Frank Harper tossed 2 2/3-innings with six strikeouts, two walks, no hits, and one unearned run.
Hunter Watson went the final third with two walks, three hits, and two earned runs.
Troy (3-2) is off until Saturday when they host Canton at 11 a.m.
