WYALUSING — Addison Fluck continued to shine on both sides of the ball as Wyalusing won their fourth straight game, beating Montgomery 8-0 during non-league softball action Friday.

Fluck was 4-for-4 from the plate with a home run, and 2-RBI, while in the circle she tossed a 3-hit shutout with two walks, and nine strikeouts in six innings of work.

It was a part of a night where the Rams pounded out 13 hits, breaking the game open with a 6-run fifth inning.

“The girls have responded to all the hard work,” said Wyalusing coach Brett Jayne. “I’m really pleased with the effort - defensively, offensively, and with the pitching.”

This is the fourth straight game they’ve scored seven or more runs.

“It makes it a lot easier when the bats come to life,” said Jayne. “When you can put up 10-12-15 hits a game it makes a big difference. I know we’re not going to be able to do that against everybody but we’re going to try.”

Addisyn Bly (2-for-3) had a triple with a run scored, with Treanna Nickeson (2-for-4) hitting a triple, driving in a run, and scoring twice.

Emily Johns (2-for-4) also crossed home with Josie Ferris (1-for-2) had a double with 2-RBI and a run scored.

Ellie Adams and Kyla Carpenter both scored, as Callee Warner (1-for-3) and Carpenter each had an RBI. Riley O’Connor (1-for-3) added a hit and an RBI.

Warner also tossed the final inning, sitting Montgomery’s line-up down in order.

The Rams got their first run in the bottom of the first when Nickeson hit a triple, then scored on a 2-out infield single from O’Connor.

Montgomery would load the bases in the third but Fluck induced a pop up to end the threat.

In the bottom of the fourth Fluck took an 0-2 pitch over the left field fence for her solo home run to make it 2-0.

Then came the fifth with Bly leading things off with a triple. Nickeson would drive her in with a single for a 3-0 lead.

Kirra Millard would bunt her over, while Montgomery would get another out to come 1-out away from getting out of the inning.

Fluck would single in Nickeson to keep the at bat alive, followed by Johns hitting a single. Carpenter then reached on an error, allowing Adams to score for a 5-0 lead.

Ferris then brought in Johns and Carpenter to make it 7-0. Warner would drive in Ferris with a single for the 8-0 final.

With the win Wyalusing (6-2) sets themselves up well for a tough slate of games, beginning with Williamson Saturday morning followed by NPL, Towanda, and District IV, Class AA leaders Northwest all next week.

“I want to keep the girls moving, and hopefully keep them on a roll,” said Jayne. “Stay positive, keep the bats going, and hopefully pick up another victory tomorrow, and then got into the large school with a little vengeance, and get everybody.”
