Northern Tier Sports ReportROME — NEB broke their 3-game losing streak with a 9-2 win over Williamson during NTL baseball action Thursday.
The Panthers pounded out 10 hits and scored in every inning, beginning with a 1-0 lead after one.
They scored one run in each of the first four innings to take a 4-2 lead, then pulled away with three runs in the fifth, and two more in the sixth.
Cooper Hugo (2-for-4) had 4-RBI to lead the Panthers as Tanner Judson (2-for-4) had a double with two runs scored.
Kohen Hugo (1-for-3) scored three times and drove in a run, with Ka’Ron Carr (2-for-4) also crossing home.
Anthony Johnson (2-for-4) had an RBI as Elijah DeLancey scored twice, and Tyler Goodenow also crossed home.
Johnson went the first 6 1/3-innings to get the win, striking out 10 with two walks, eight hits, and two runs, one of which was earned.
Cooper Hugo tossed the final two-thirds with one strikeout.
In the bottom of the first Kohen Hugo drew a walk, followed by Cooper Hugo singling. That set up Johnson’s single to bring in Kohen for the 1-0 lead.
Carr led off the second with a hit, followed by Goodenow drawing a walk. After Kohen Hugo reaches on a fielder’s choice, Cooper Hugo would bring in Carr on a sacrifice fly for the 2-0 lead.
DeLancey opened up the third with a walk, then later scored on an error by the catcher to make it 3-0.
After the Warriors cut it to 3-2 Kohen Hugo led off the fourth with a walk, then scored on a Cooper Hugo ground out to stretch the lead back to two runs.
In the fifth Judson led off with a single, followed by Goodenow drawing a walk two batters later. Kohen Hugo would single in Judson, followed by Cooper Hugo driving in Goodenow and Kohen Hugo for a 7-2 lead.
In the sixth NEB rallied with two outs after DeLancey led off the inning with a walk. An error off the bat of Judson brought him in.
Carr singled to keep the rally going, followed by Judson scoring on an error off the bat of Goodenow for the 9-2 final.
NEB (5-5) will travel to Susquehanna on Saturday.
