NTL SOFTBALL: TROY LEADS EARLY BUT FALLS TO MIDD-WEST (2026-04-18)

MIDDLEBURG — Troy led early but Midd-West scored eight straight runs to beat the Trojans, 8-4, during non-league softball action Saturday.

The Trojans scored two runs in the top of the first and second innings to go up 4-0. Midd-West got one back in the bottom of the second, then tied it up with three more in the third.

They went ahead with a run in the fourth, then pulled away with three more in the fifth.

Maddyson Muir (1-for-4) had a double with 2-RBI as Haidyn Watson (2-for-4) scored a run.

Danielle Roy (1-for-2) had a triple with a run scored, and an RBI, with Delaney Kendall (1-for-2), and Lauren Reed both scored. Sydnee Bellows (1-for-4) and Alyeiah Kutt (1-for-1) both had hits as Izzy Renzi drove in a run.

Knapp struck out seven in the loss, allowing one walk, 10 hits, and eight runs, six of which were earned.

In the top of the first Bellows and Watson hit back to back 1-out singles. After a second out Knapp was hit by a pitch, then. Muir doubled in Watson and Reed, who reached on a fielder’s choice, for the 2-0 lead.

In the second Kendall led off with a hit, then scored on Roy’s triple. Renzi then drove in Roy with a ground out.

Troy (4-5) is at Wyalusing on Tuesday.
