SULLIVAN COUNTY USES 16-RUN INNING TO DOWN BUCKTAIL (2026-04-23)

RENOVO — Sullivan County used a 16-run fourth inning to top Bucktail, 23-9 in six innings, during Mid-Penn baseball action.

The Griffins led 3-0 after one, and 4-2 going into the third. They tacked on two more in the third, then racked up 16 in the top of the fourth for a 22-2 lead.

The Bucks responded with a 7-run bottom half. After a scoreless fifth inning Sullivan added another run in the sixth.

Tucker Blasi (2-for-4) had a double, a triple, 5-RBI and four runs scored for the Griffins as Madden Fries (3-for-3) scored three times, and drove in two runs.

Garrett Burke (2-for-4) scored twice, and had 2-RBI with Marshall Strain (1-for-2) scored twice, and had 3-RBI.

Zane Miller (2-for-4) had an RBI with two runs scored, while Brett Smith (2-for-4) crossed home three times.

Ryan Murray (1-for-5) had 2-RBI with two runs scored as Carter Blasi (1-for-4) had 3-RBI with two runs scored.

Fries started, and went three innings with four strikeouts, one walk, two hits, and two unearned runs.

Cole Ledger went next but didn’t record an out, allowing four hits, one walk, and five runs, four of which were earned.

Tucker Blasi pitched the final two innings with three strikeouts, two walks, two hits, and two unearned runs.

In the top of the first Fries and Burke had back to back singles and were driven in by a Tucker Blasi double. Blasi then scored on a sacrifice fly for the 3-0 lead.

Fries would draw a 2-out walk in the second, then scored on an error off a pick-off play to make it 4-0.

Tucker Blasi reached on an error to start the third, then scored on a Carter Blasi ground out. 

Smith and Ledger had back to back singles to keep the inning alive with Smith scoring off a Strain hit for a 6-2 lead.

Miller and Fries opened up the fourth with back to back hits. After a fielder’s choice saw Miller out at third Tucker Blasi tripled in two runs for an 8-2 score.

Murray then brought in Blasi. Carter Blasi and Smith would reach on back to back errors to load the bases, setting a run scoring hit from Ledger.

Strain would draw a walk to score Carter Blasi, with Sullivan getting three straight run scoring singles after that to take a 14-2 lead.

A Tucker Blasi walk brought in another run, followed by Fries scoring on an error off the bat of Murray.

A Carter Blasi hit would drive in Tucker Blasi for a 17-2 score.

Smith would walk, followed by ledger singling in Murray. Strain then drew a bases loaded walk to score Carter Blasi for a 19-2 ball game.

An error off the bat of Miller drove in Smith, followed by Fries drawing a walk to score Ledger. Burke was then hit by a pitch to bring in Strain for a 22-2 ball game.
