Northern Tier Sports ReportEAST TROY — Troy baseball used a 3-run fourth inning to rally past NP-Mansfield for a 6-5 win during NTL action Thursday.
The Tigers jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the first, but Troy struck back with three runs in the bottom half.
NPM would put up four runs in the second to take a 5-3 lead, one that held until the bottom of the third when the Trojans rallied for a 1-run lead.
Logunn Heasley (2-for-3) scored twice while Logan Loxley (1-for-4) had 2-RBI with a run scored.
Brody Ayres (1-for-4) had 2-RBI with Reed Palmer scoring twice, and Brendan Gilliland crossing home once.
Pryor Teribury had an RBI as Trey Teribury (1-for-2) had a hit.
Vinnie Colton went the first two innings with two strikeouts, two walks, five hits, and five earned runs.
Zach Blasz went the next two innings with no strikeouts, three walks, no hits, and no runs.
Palmer finished out the final three innings with four strikeouts, two walks, one hit, and no runs.
In the first Heasley got things started with a 1-out walk, followed by Gilliland reaching on an error. Palmer then drew a walk to load the bases.
That set up Loxley’s sacrifice fly that scored Heasley for a 1-1 ball game.
Ayers then singled in Gilliland, followed by Palmer scoring on an error for the 3-1 lead.
Heasley got things started again in the fourth with a hit, followed by Gilliland reaching on an error. After Gilliland was caught stealing second palmer was hit by a pitch.
That set up Loxley’s single that brought in Heasley for a 5-4 game.
An error off the bat of Ayres allowed Palmer to score, then Teribury brought in Loxley with a ground out to give the Trojans a 1-run lead.
Troy (9-4) will host Athens on Friday with a 4:30 p.m. start.
