Northern Tier Sports ReportWYSOX — Leila Cobb struck out 13 and Caedence Wells homered as Towanda blanked Hughesville, 3-0, during non-league softball action Friday.
The Knights scored two in the second inning, then added one more in the sixth for the win.
Cobb allowed just four hits and four walks in the victory while going 1-for-3 from the plate with a double.
Welles (1-for-3) had an RBI with a run scored as Kaylen Sluyter (1-for-2) also scored and drove in a run.
Brooklyn Evans (1-for-2) also had a hit as Molly Roberts scored a run.
The Knights were able to score with two outs in the second after Roberts drew a lead-off walk. Sluyter singled her in for a 1-0 lead, then Sluyter scored on an error off the bat of Perry for the 2-0 advantage.
Wells opened up the bottom of the sixth with a home run on a 1-2 pitch to make it 3-0 Towanda.
Towanda (10-2) hosts Troy on Tuesday.
