Northern Tier Sports ReportCANTON — Canton held on to beat Bucktail, 3-2, during non-league baseball action Tuesday.
Both teams scored a run each in the third, with Canton getting runs in the fifth and sixth innings to go up 3-1.
The Bucks rallied in the seventh with a run, but couldn’t quite knot things up.
Bailey Gardner (1-for-3) had a double with a run scored for Canton as Leeland Tubach (1-for-2) and Carson Castle also crossed home.
Daniel Inman (1-for-3), and Trapper Burr each had an RBI with Luke Crawley (1-for-3) also getting a hit.
Inman started, and went three innings with three strikeouts, one walk, three hits, and one unearned run.
Burr tossed the final four innings with four strikeouts, one walk, five hits, and one earned run.
In the third Castle would draw a 1-out walk then scored on a Burr sacrifice fly for the 1-1 ball game.
Tubach would lead off the fifth with a hit, then later scored on a steal of home for a 2-1 lead.
Gardner led off the sixth with a double, then scored two batters later on an Inman single for the 3-1 advantage.
In the top of the seventh the Bucks got the first two batters on, but Canton held them with two straight outs.
After Bucktail got a run on a fielder’s choice Burr induced a fly out to secure the win.
Canton (5-9) is at Wellsboro on Thursday.
