NTL SOFTBALL: TOWANDA ROLLS PAST WILLIAMSON (2026-04-30)

WYSOX — Towanda rolled past Williamson, 11-3, during NTL softball action Thursday.

The win sets up a big game Saturday morning with Athens as the two are tied in the league standings. 

The Knights jumped out to a 3-0 first inning lead, then tacked one run in each of the second and third innings.

Towanda broke the game open with three more runs in the fourth for an 8-0 lead. The teams traded three runs in the sixth inning for the 11-3 final.

Brooklyn Evans (3-for-4) had a double, scored three times and add an RBI as Maris Cobb (2-for-3) had 3-RBI with three runs scored.

Payton Perry (2-for-4) had a double with three runs scored, while Brynsen Vargason (2-for-3) scored twice, and drove in two runs.

Leila Cobb (1-for-4) had a double with 4-RBI, while Hannah Crawford (1-for-2) also had a hit.

Cobb struck out 11 in the win, allowing five walks, four hits, and three earned runs.

In the bottom of the first Maris Cobb drew a 1-out walk followed by Evans singling. Vargason would draw a walk to load the baes.

Williamson got a second out but Leila Cobb came through with a 3-run double for the 3-0 lead.

In the second Perry hit a 2-out single then scored off a Maris Cobb hit to make it 4-0.

Vargason opened up the third with a hit, then scored two batters later on a Leila Cobb ground out to make it a 5-0 Black Knight lead.

The Knights did their damage in the fourth with two outs. After Crawford hit a lead-off single Williamson got back to back outs on a sacrifice and a fielder’s choice.

Maris Cobb then singled in Perry, followed by Evans doubling in Maris Cobb. A Vargason hit drove in Evans for an 8-0 lead.

Perry led off the sixth with a double, then scored on an error off the bat of Maris Cobb.

Evans singled to keep the rally going, followed by Maris Cobb scoring on a Vargason ground out. Evans would later score on a steal of home for the 11-3 final.

Towanda (12-2) will travel to Athens for a 10 a.m. first pitch on Saturday.
