Northern Tier Sports ReportBINGHAMTON, N.Y. — NEB turned a defensive struggle into an offensive exhibition as they defeated Wyalusing, 11-1 in six innings at the home of the Rumble Ponies Friday.
After three scoreless innings the Panthers pushed six across in the fourth, then added three more in the fifth for a 9-0 lead.
The Rams pushed one across in the top of the sixth, then NEB came back with two runs in the bottom of the inning.
Kohen Hugo (2-for-4) had a double with 2-RBI for the Panthers with Elijah DeLancey (1-for-2) scored twice and drove in a run.
Wes Alderfer crossed home twice while driving in a run, as Anthony Johnson (1-for-2), Cooper Hugo, William Chappell, Will Kapr, and Brad Shores all scored.
Kohen Hugo started, and went five innings for the win, striking out nine with one walk, two hits, and no runs.
Nate Gross tossed the final inning with one strikeout, no walks, one hit, and one unearned run.
Gage Tinna (1-for-3) and Marshall Huston (1-for-3) both had doubles for the Rams, with Tinna driving in a run.
Jared VandeMark (1-for-1) had a hit as Griffin Sheldon scored a run.
VandeMark started, and went 3 2/3-innings with five strikeouts, three walks, two hits, and six runs, one of them earned.
Owen Brown went the final two innings with one strikeout, three walks, two hits, and five runs, three of them earned.
Campbell Carr then took the mound, allowing a walk.
In the bottom of the fourth Cooper Hugo led off with a walk, followed by Johnson hitting a single.
An error off the bat of Gross allowed him, Cooper Hugo, and Johnson to score for a 3-0 lead.
DeLancey restarted the rally with a walk, then scored on an error off the bat of DeLancey.
After an out Shores reached on an error, followed by Kohen Hugo doubling in Alderfer and Shores to make it 6-0.
In the bottom of the fifth Gross drew a 1-out walk, followed by DeLancey driving him in with a single.
Alderfer drew a walk, followed by DeLancey scoring on a balk. Alderfer later scored on a wild pitch to make it 9-0.
In the top of the sixth Sheldon led off by reaching on an error, then scored two batters later off a Tinna double.
In the bottom half of the inning Kohen Hugo led off with a hit. After two outs Kapr reached on an error, followed by Chappell scoring on an error.
DeLancey and Alderfer drew back to back walks, with Kapr scoring on a wild pitch to end the game.
