NTL BASEBALL: TOWANDA FALLS AT CV (2026-05-05)

WESTFIELD — Despite nearly equalling them in hits Towanda fell to CV, 11-4, during NTL baseball action Tuesday.

It was 1-0 CV after one, with both teams scoring three runs in the second inning.

The Indians would get three more in the third for a 4-run lead.

Towanda got one back in the top of the fifth to make it 7-4, but a 4-run bottom sixth from CV saw them pull away.

Harper Welles (2-for-4) had an RBI with Shane Maghamez (2-for-4) scoring a run.

Avery Butts (1-for-4) scored, and drove in a run, as Gage Evans (1-for-4), and Hudson Stevens (1-for-2) both crossed home.

Brad Assante (1-for-4). Had an RBI with Boom Thompson (1-for-4) getting a hit.

Assante started, and went 2 1/3-innings with no strikeouts, three walks, five hits, and seven runs, two of which were earned.

Thompson went 1 2/3-innings with two strikeouts, no walks, no hits, and no runs.

Hagen Jones pitched the final two innings with two strikeouts, two walks, six hits, and four earned runs.

Evans led off the second with a hit, then scored on a Butts single to make it 1-1.

After an out Stevens singled, then scored on an error for a 2-1 game.

Thompson would single to keep the rally going, then Welles drove in Stevens with a hit for the 3-1 lead.

In the fifth Maghamez hit a 1-out single to get things going, then scored on an Assante hit for the 7-4 ball game.

Towanda (6-10) hosts Sayre on Thursday with a 4:30 p.m. start.
