Northern Tier Sports ReportSAYRE — Troy used a fast start to roll past Sayre, 19-2 in four innings, during NTL baseball action Tuesday.
It was 10-2 Trojans after one, then they notched five in the second for a 15-2 lead. They would score one more in the third, then put up three runs in the top of the fourth to get the mercy rule win.
Trey Teribury (2-for-3) had two doubles 3-RBI, and a three runs scored to lead Troy as Logunn Heasley (1-for-3) had 4-RBI with two runs scored.
Reed Palmer (1-for-3), Logan Loxley (1-for-1), and Pryor Teribury (1-for-2) all scored twice with 1-RBI.
Mason Smith scored four times as Brendan Gilliland (1-for-3) had 2-RBI with a run scored.
Brody Ayres scored and drove in a run as Frank Harper (1-for-3) had an RBI.
Harper started, and went three innings with four strikeouts, one walk, two hits, and two earned runs.
Vinnie Colton tossed the final inning with one strikeout, no walks, not hits, and no runs.
Smith and Heasley opened up the game with back to back walks. After an out Smith would take home on a wild pitch, followed by Palmer and Ayres both drawing walk to load the bases.
Heasley would score on a wild pitch to make it 2-0.
Loxley would get beaned to reload the bases, setting up a Pryor Teribury walk that brought in Palmer.
Trey Teribury would double in two runs to make it 5-0, followed by Harper hitting a 1-run single for a 6-0 lead.
Smith would draw a second walk in the same inning followed by Heasley singling in Trey Teribury, and Harper’s courtesy runner, Garret Parks, for an 8-0 score.
Gilliland would draw a walk, followed by Smith scoring on a wild pitch. Palmer then brought in Heasley for the 10-0 first inning lead.
Trey Teribury opened up the second inning by getting hit by a pitch, followed by Harper and Smith both reaching to load the bases.
A Heasley ground out plated Trey Teribury, followed by a Gilliland single scoring both Parks and Smith for a 13-2 lead.
Palmer would single to keep the rally going, setting up an Ayres ground out that plated Gilliland. Loxley then singled in Palmer for the final run of the inning, and a 15-2 Trojan lead.
In the third Smith would reach on a 1-out error, followed by Heasley getting hit by a pitch. Gilliland then walked to load the bases.
Palmer would bring in Smith on a sacrifice fly for a 16-2 lead.
Loxley led off the fourth with a walk, followed by Pryor Teribury singling. T/hat set up a Trey Teribury double that scored Loxley.
Harper would draw a walk followed by Heasley bringing Pryor Teribury and Trey Teribury both in on a line out for the 19-2 final.
Troy (12-5) will host CV on Thursday.
