NTL SOFTBALL: TOWANDA TOO MUCH FOR SAYRE ON SENIOR NIGHT (2026-05-07)

WYSOX — Towanda picked up their second straight 10-0 win during NTL softball action Thursday, this time besting Sayre in five innings.

It was scoreless through two when the Knights put up five in the bottom of the third. They added three more in the fourth, and finished things off with two runs in the fifth.

Brooklyn Evans (2-for-3) had a double, 3-RBI, and a run scored for the Knights as Payton Perry (3-for-4) scored twice.

Caedence Wells (2-for-2) had a double with an RBI while Brynsen Vargason (2-for-3) scored twice, with an RBI.

Molly Roberts (1-for-2) had a double with an RBI as Maris Cobb (1-for-4) had 2-RBI with a run scored. Leila Cobb (1-for-3) had 2-RBI with a run scored as Kendal Cook (1-for-2) and Ily Benjamin (1-for-2) both scored.

Leila Cobb struck out eight with no walks, and one hit.

Perry hit a 1-out single to start the third inning rally, then scored on a Maris Cobb hit. Evans would plate Maris Cobb on a sacrifice fly to make it 2-0.

Vargason and Wells had back to back hits to restart the rally. Leila Cobb would drive Vargason and Wells’ courtesy runner, Sadie Overpeck, in with a single for a 4-0 advantage.

Roberts then doubled in Leila Cobb for the 5-0 lead.

In the fourth Perry would single, then scored on a 2-out Evans double. Vargason then singled in Evans, followed by Wells driving in Vargason with a double for the 8-0 lead.

Cook led off the fifth with a 1-out hit, followed by Benjamin reaching on a single. Perry would reach on an error to load the bases.

An error off the bat of Maris Cobb brought in Cook, then Evans singled in Benjamin for the 10-0 final.

Towanda (14-3) will travel to Tunkhannock for their final regular season game on Tuesday.
