MILTON — Towanda's Brynn Woodruff repeated as the district champion in the javelin while Marin Maynard took second in the pole vault to punch her ticket to states during the District IV Track and Field Championships Saturday.

Woodruff threw 124-feet, 4-inches to claim her second district gold.

"It feels good," Woodruff said about taking first.

She fouled on her first throw but followed that up with a 120-feet, 6-inch toss on her second try. It was her third throw that she hit 124-feet, 4-inches.

"I just had to re-step everything and get myself back together," Woodruff said about regrouping after the first throw.

In the finals she had throws of 121-feet, 124-feet, 1-inch, and 120-feet, 8-inches.

She came in the as the top seed but wasn't worried about the pressure.

"It wasn't that nerve wracking," remarked Woodruff.

She was state runner-up a year ago and will look to move up one step on the podium.

"I'm definitely going to work on my technique, and my power," said Woodruff.

Maynard vaulted 10-feet to take second, getting some redemption after coming close her junior year.

"It's pretty exciting after I missed it by one height and one place," she said. "I got third so I'm just really excited."

She came in later than others and it worked to her advantage as he was clean on her first two vaults of 9-feet, 6-inches and 10-feet even.

"I had confidence to jump at 9-feet, 6-inches starting," Maynard explained. "I was like, I can't miss any jumps, and that's really what saved me in the end."

She tied Warrior Run's Olesia Cieslukowski in height but the Defender had two misses at 9-feet, 6-inches, putting her in the hole. She ended up being clean at 10-feet, just like Maynard, but couldn't make 10-feet, 6-inches.

"I felt great going over 9-6 and 10," Maynard said. "And, honestly, 10-6, too."

She'll likely need to get 10-feet, 6-inches to have a shot at the podium at states.

"I think I'm going to move up to a bigger pole," remarked Maynard.

In the 1600 Maris Cobb just missed going to states in a second event, taking fourth in 5:17.59, 2.5 seconds over the state standard.

The Knights had two medalists in the shot put as Eliana Cook (36-feet, 3 1/2-inches) took fourth and Mya Maynard (33-feet, 5 1/2-inches) came in eighth. Cook missed the state standard by less than three inches.

Natalyn Morris was sixth in the high jump at 5-feet, to also get on the podium.

Mary-Kate Eberlin was 18th in the 800 in 2:32.32, with Cheyenne Morgan 13th in the pole vault at 8-feet, 6-inches.

On the boys' side Tanner Vanderpool took fourth in the pole vault at 11-feet with Jazick Brown sixth in the 100 in 11.26. Brown was also 22nd in the 400 in 56.64.

Emmett Klees took 14th in the 1600 in 4:41.41 with Kole Heyer (5-feet, 9-inches) and Keegan Stroud (5-feet, 9-inches) 14th and 15th in the high jump.
