NTL BASEBALL: TROY CAN'T HOLD EARLY LEAD AS THEY FALL TO WARRIOR RUN IN DISTRICT PLAYOFFS (2026-05-19)

TURBOTVILLE — Troy led early but a 4-run bottom fifth from Warrior Run saw them take the lead, and eventually the win 6-3, during District IV Class AAA baseball quarterfinal action Tuesday.

The Trojans were up 2-1 after one, then tacked on another run in the second. However, the Defenders would hold them scoreless the rest of the game.

Troy made the 2-run advantage stick until the fifth when Warrior Run pushed ahead 5-3. The Defenders added another run in the sixth for the 3-run win.

Mason Smith (1-for-3) scored twice for Troy as Trey Teribury (1-for-3) drove in two runs. Brendan Gilliland (1-for-4) also scored with Reed Palmer (1-for-3) getting a hit.

Palmer started, and went five innings for the loss. He struck out four with three walks, eight hits, and five earned runs.

Frank Harper tossed the final inning, with no strikeouts, tow walks, one hit, and one earned run.

Smith opened up the game with a walk, then was sacrifice over. Gilliland singled, followed by Palmer getting hit by a pitch to load the bases.

After an out Teribury brought in Smith and Gilliland with a 2-run single. 

In the third a 2-out error allowed Smith to reach, followed by Brody Ayres drawing a walk. Smith would score on a passed ball for the 2-run lead.

The key hit in the fifth was a 2-run home run that saw Warrior Run go from a run down to a run up.
