ATHENS — They had to wrestle inside due to the rain but it didn't dampen their enthusiasm any as the Pennsylvania Youth wrestlers held on to beat New York, 44-36, to move to 3-0 in the Duals on Desmond competition Saturday.

It was back and forth early but late in the match PA won five of six bouts, and that was enough to get them the win.

Corning's Judd Garner pinned Sayre's Bryce Stanton in 1:02 to put New York up 6-0.

Mahanoy Area's David Kushner tied things up with a fall in 1:40 over Corning's Jacob Dueer.

Maine-Ednwell's Carter Gage scored a 15-0 tech fall in 2:30 over Towanda's Jameson Sheets to put New York back on top 11-6.

NEB's Cole Waltemyer came back with a fall over Elmira's Nikkoh Traynham in 1:25 for a 12-11 lead.

Waverly's Axten Mezzatesta pinned Athens' Gunner Lake in 2:14, followed by Corning's Andres Baker scoring a 7-0 decision over NEB's Jaxxer Coleman to make it 20-12.

NEB's Quaid Martin would cut it to 20-18 with a fall over Corning's Jakobi Smith in 50 seconds.

Allegany Limestone's Maxmimus Colburn struck back with a fall over Athens' Jaxon Camp in 55 seconds to put the Empire State up 26-18.

That's when Pa got rolling, starting with Lock Haven's Tucker Anello scoring a fall over Elmira's Logan Riley in 2:14.

NEB's Jaxson Waltemyer then pinned Canisteo's Baron Daley in 55 seconds to put the Commonwealth up 30-26.

Mifflinburg's Jack Kahley picked up a 21-1 tech fall over CV's Broderick Whitman to extend the lead to 35-26.

Honeoye Falls' Sawyer Hatch gave NY some life with a fall over Athens' Kruze Payne in 1:51 for a 35-32 score.

Though, two Wildcats would shut the door for PA as Beau Hall pinned Horseheads' Tommy Vesek in 1:06, then Jacob Cobb scored a 9-2 win over CV's Ethan Brown for a 44-32 lead.

New York ended strong as UE's Enzo Diloreto scored a major 13-5 over Towanda's Landon Isbell.
